Schools tend to have a high concentration of individuals for long periods of the time for the majority of the year. Schools cover a large area of land and if a fire were to break out more lives could be lost so it is expected that near these higher populated areas there would be more fire hydrants. Monterey County Ordinance 5230 Section 105 L105.4 states, “the hydrant serving any building shall be not less than 50 feet and not more than 1000 feet by road from the building it is to serve”.
