To consolidate the two data sets (InletsByZone and swInlet) taken of Salinas’ stormwater inlet drains, data points were verified and validated through a series of steps; if the points on both data sets’ overlapped, the data point was considered verified, if the points differed slightly or only one layer was present, Google Earth’s “street-view” feature was utilized in order to confirm existence of a stormwater inlet and validate such point. After points were validated, the “swInlet” layer was selected as the disposal layer due to the lack of information in the attribute table, as opposed to the “InletsByZone” layer which had more often been edited and added to by the city staff. The disposal of the “swInlet” layer left only the “InletsByZone” layer, in which all points are now validated or consolidated with any lacking data taken from the “swInlet” layer.
