Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) is a leading Malaysian university in engineering technology. Its institution, the Universiti Kuala Lumpur – Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL-MICET), is a pioneer institution that provides hands-on chemical-based technology education located in Alor Gajah, Melaka State.
In addition to being excellent in research, education, training, entrepreneurship, and consultancy, UniKL also emphasizes community services and provides students with enriching university experiences. With this emphasis, the university joined the EPIC-N network in 2021 to develop a balanced educational framework to create creative thinkers who care about the issue of sustainability.
Through the EPIC Model, UniKL-MICET is partnering with the Alor Gajah Municipal Council to explore the possibility of managing waste from the local wet market in a ‘greener’ approach. The partnership goals are to create a systematic, practical, and effective solid waste management at the Alor Gajah Wet Market community.
