This initiative is a multinational, study abroad undergraduate research program between Texas Tech University, McLennan Community College, and the Roatan Institute for Marine Science (RIMS), as well as a few other Honduran organizations. RIMS is a non-academic facility on the island of Roatan, Honduras dedicated to teaching the Honduran community and students from all over about coral reefs. Over the past three years, students have actively taken part in coral restoration efforts. Through fundraisers and departmental support, they raised over $2,500 to purchase coral trees and supplies for the RIMS nursery program.
