As a part of the City of La Mesa’s Climate Action Plan, the City is aiming to divert 75% of waste from landfills by the year 2035. This goal is to be achieved with both residential and business involvement. Students in Communications 485 developed public relations proposals supporting zero waste and active transport to help the City meet its Climate Action Plan goals. City of La Mesa staff provided insight and information about target demographics to guide the development of these plans. As part of their proposal preparation, students conducted a SWOT analysis, in which they identified the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that would impact their proposals.
