This student team assessed the County Conservation Plan and Farmland Preservation Plan and held discussions with Marathon County and associates to identify ways they can increase public awareness in Marathon County. They want to influence people to adapt to new sustainable agricultural practices that can enhance soil health. The students focused on finding ways to better inform the community about land, water, and groundwater conservation concerns. Through critical evaluation of each existing effort, they have found through our research, we created a solution idea generation matrix. The Solution Idea Generation Matrix shown in Figure 1 of Appendix A was ultimately filled with ideas for how Marathon County could increase awareness. The final recommendation for Marathon County is to host informational sessions, set up PSA videos, update their website, send out monthly newsletters, and develop a pilot program.
