This program was organised by the Centre for Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS) Universiti Sains Malaysia and Penang Green Council (PGC) on 15th January 2022 at Kampung Perlis Balik Pulau, Penang. This program was successfully run by the students under university courses (Public Sector Economics and Tourism Economics). In order to meet the program needs, the students have invited Hara Makers to be their facilitators to facilitate the community together. The purpose of the program is to increase the community’s knowledge and awareness and educate them in waste management specifically on plastic recycling. Hara Makers team has taught the community the step of turning plastic bags into useful and beautiful bags. The community also learned in turning plastic bottles into self-watering plant pots. The community is very enjoying and they look very happy and excited about learning new things. The program has increased the community’s knowledge and awareness on waste management. This program helps the community to implement waste management and plastic recycling in daily life. The students also have improved their communication and leadership skills as well as increased their understanding and awareness on waste management.
