The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation presents the Healthy Hometown award annually to encourage and reward exemplary community health and wellness in minucipalities across the state. Faculty and students worked alongside community leaders to create the grant application based on Lexington’s environmental ordinances and policies, reduced tobacco use, community wellness infrastructure and fitness classes, edible community garden, and farmers market.
