EPIC-N Representatives Present at the International Habitat Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean

In August 2022, the first edition of the International Habitat Summit  of Latin America and the Caribbean was held (CIHALC) at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, with a common objective: To start from the recognition of Latin American identities, from the strengths, problems and differences of their cities and territories, to promote and consolidate “New Shared Agendas”.

The CIHALC was created to accompany the implementation – at the local and regional level – of the UN-HABITAT New Urban Agenda, and to follow-up the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals 2030 Agenda.

The CIHALC is an academic, democratic, liberal and plural space for reflection, conversation, collaboration and learning between civil society, academia, sectors government, business and union organizations for the construction and implementation of common agendas in the region. In 2023, CIHALC organized the second conference with the general theme: “Challenges of Coexistence – Alliances for a Shared Habitat” (#CIHALC). EPIC-LAC is a partner of the University of Guadalajara and was invited to speak at the CIHALC 2023 event. The presentation was done remotely on August 29th, 2023 at 10.00 am at the Santander Ensemble of Performing Arts of the University of Guadalajara. EPIC participated in a panel denominated: EPIC Model and its Implementation at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and UW-Madison (United States) to support capacity building in governments and local communities. The panel was integrated by:

  4. Salvador Villaseñor Aldama Coordinator of Economic Development and Combating Inequality Zapopan – Benefits of the EPIC-N model in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco
