EPIC-N Presents at the 2023 ICSAVED Conference

Between the 14th and 17th March 2023, Professor Maria Ana T. Quimbo, a member of EPIC Asia hailing from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, took the lead alongside colleagues from various institutions across the Philippines in organizing the International Conference on Sustainable Agri-vironment Education, Entrepreneurship, and Community Development (ICSAVED) 2023. Held at Mariano Marcos State University in the Philippines and themed “Exploring Industrial Revolution 4.0,” this conference delved into the contemporary landscape and potential of agri-environmental education and entrepreneurship within the context of the Industrial Revolution’s latest phase. Eminent speakers shared their insights in domains such as forward-looking perspectives, sustainable urban development, agricultural innovation, and collaborative city-university initiatives aimed at sustainable development. The conference featured 34 paper presentations across four distinct tracks, including 1) Data Science, Technology, and Innovations in Agri-vironment Education and Entrepreneurship; 2) Agriculture, Fishery, and Conservation of the Environment, along with its Protection and Management; 3) The Future of Agricultural Education Amidst the Industrial Revolution; and 4) Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities in Scientific and Technological Entrepreneurship and Governance.
At the conference, Dr. Nuttavikhom Phanthuwongpakdee (commonly referred to as Kay), who serves as the EPIC Asia coordinator, shared insights regarding the Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities (EPIC) model. He elaborated on the model’s implementation in the Asian context, emphasizing the mutual benefits derived by both academic institutions and the communities they serve through this collaborative partnership.
The 2023 ICSAVED offered a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and sharing experiences, attracting approximately 100 participants, including educators, researchers, students, and technical personnel.
