EPIC-N Presents at the 2023 SRI Congress
In late June, a number of EPIC-N representatives from around the United States and Latin America met in Panama to present at the 2023 SRI Congress. The Sustainability Research & Innovation (SRI) Congress is the world’s largest transdisciplinary gathering for the global sustainability community. The third edition of the SRI Congress, SRI2023, was hosted by the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Republic of Panama (SENACYT) and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) in June 2023, bringing this global event to the Latin American and Caribbean Region.
SRI unites more than 2000 global sustainability research leaders, government and civil society experts, funders and innovators to inspire action and promote a sustainability transformation. This global, annual event elevates diverse knowledge on sustainability, provides an inspiring platform to share innovative ideas, and creates an inclusive space for collaboration and action. SRI is a joint initiative of Future Earth and the Belmont Forum.
EPIC-N presented at three sessions during this conference. These sessions covered the following topics:
- The Educational Partnership for Innovation in Communities Network 101 Training
- This training guided participants on how to start the EPIC model.
- The Educational Partnership for Innovation in Communities Network: An innovative worldwide conceptualization for sustainability
- This session interactively showcased EPIC Model best practices and challenges by region and highlighted stories of how the model has been adapted to different cultures and regions worldwide.
- The Educational Partnership for Innovation in Communities Network: An innovative conceptualization for sustainability
- This session interactively showcased EPIC Model best practices and challenges by regions and highlight stories of how the model is being adapted in LAC.
By attending this conference, presenting, and networking with participants, EPIC-N received interest from a number of different stakeholders who would like to see the EPIC Model adapted to their own institutional and cultural context. EPIC-N attendees found this conference to be incredibly insightful, impactful, and beneficial. We look forward to continuing the relationships made at 2023 SRI.
