EPIC-N Presents at the Universidad Veracruzana’s University/Community Workshop

The Universidad Veracruzana and the City Council of Córdoba, Veracruz, with support from the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Mexico and the Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities Network (EPIC-N), coordinated the project “Towards a circular Córdoba”. This project seeks to address, from undergraduate and postgraduate educational interventions, the development of project proposals that contribute to addressing the needs stemming from urban solid waste management in the municipality of Córdoba, Veracruz. Within the framework of this project, UV organized the first in-person workshop, “Academic Views towards a circular Córdoba”, on September 27, 2023, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. (Mexico City time) at the Library and Information Services Unit (USBI) Ixtaczoquitlán of the Universidad Veracruzana. During this workshop, the City Council of Córdoba presented some general context for their comprehensive solid waste management needs to participating academics and students. This provided a jumping off point for the undergraduate and graduate students who are working on this project during the fall 2023 semester.

EPIC-N’s Latin America and Caribbean Regional Coordinator, Dr. Andrea Chavez, gave a few words at the end of the workshop via Zoom about the relevance of these types of collaborations and projects in the context of EPIC-N’s mission and vision.

The workshop was attended by 16 undergraduate courses and 1 postgraduate course.
